Thin a Chubby Face with Facial Liposuction

Facial liposuction is one of the most commonly requested types of liposuction in men and women because some areas of the face just don’t react well with diet and exercise, like the cheeks, the chin, the jaw line, and the neck.

What is Liposuction?

Facial liposuction is the removal of unwanted, localized deposits of fat cells. Originally liposuction was designed for sculpting the body, mostly the stomach and buttocks but with the advancement of technology facial liposuction is now possible.

Facial liposuction may be done alone, without any additional surgery which is usually more common with younger people but with older people additional surgery may be required because the skin on the face has lost its elasticity, so a face lift or brow lift may be necessary to achieve the desired look.

Best Candidates for Facial Liposuction

Most men and women who want to get rid of localized fatty deposits are excellent candidates for facial liposuction. Of course some requirements must be met.  The person must be in good health, the person should have good elasticity in the skin (this is helpful but not necessary) and the person should have realistic expectations. Of course your doctor will discuss all the requirements with you to determine if you are a good candidate for facial liposuction.

After facial liposuction the fatty cell will not return to the treated area because the body, after puberty will not produce any new fat cells, the weight gain that occurs after the fact comes from expanding the fat cell that we already have, therefore in most cases only one session of a facial liposuction in necessary.

Recovery

One or two small stitches may be required to close the tiny holes from where the cannulas were placed. You will also be required to wear and elastic dressing over the treated area for a few day and be required to wear the elastic dressing for a couple of weeks at bed time.
A mild pain reliever like Tylenol is all that will be needed along with a cold pack to reduce the swelling to the treated area. Most patients are able to return to normal activates within two to four days after facial liposuction.
